Privacy Policy

Your privacy is very important to me and you can be confident that your personal information will be kept safe and secure and will only be used for the purposes given to me.

I adhere to current data protection legislation. The GDPR makes sure that I look after any sensitive personal information that you may disclose to me appropriately.

When you contact me about counselling services I will collect information to help me with your enquiry. If you decide not to proceed, I will ensure all your personal data is deleted within 1 month. If you would like me to delete this sooner, just let me know.

Rest assured that everything you discuss with me is confidential. That confidentiality will only be broken in very rare circumstances and I will advise you about these circumstances in our initial discussion. If I am obliged to share information with a third party, I would always aim to speak to you first, unless there is a safeguarding issue that prevents this.

I will keep a record of your personal details to help my counselling service run smoothly. These details are kept securely at my private practice and are not shared with any third party.

I will keep brief written notes of each session and these are also stored securely at my private practice.

I do not retain text messages or emails for longer than the period we are working together.

After counselling is ended your records will be kept for 6 months in case you choose to return. After this they will be securely destroyed. If you would like me to delete your information sooner than this, please tell me.

Third party recipients of personal data

In line with the requirements of my professional body, the United Kingdom of Counselling & Psychotherapy, I receive regular clinical supervision with a senior UKCP registered psychotherapist. All work is anonymised to ensure no individual person or group can be identified. My clinical supervisor and I both abide by the ethical framework as set out by the UKCP.

Your rights

I try to be as open as possible in terms of giving people access to their personal information. You have a right to ask me to delete your personal information or to correct any mistakes you believe there may be in the personal information I hold.

Data security

I take the security of the data I hold about you very seriously and as such take every effort to make sure it is kept secure with locked filing cabinets, ‘Proton’ encrypted email, and security locked portable devices.

I do not currently collect any data pertaining to visitors to my website.
